Desert ice. Take that climate change.

Whether you believe in climate change or not it is hard to dispute the fact the environment is experiencing some sort of fluctuation. Here in the Arctic, we notice the changes perhaps quicker than the rest of the world. Reducing sea ice and warmer than normal temperatures just to name two. For those who don’t understand the geographic realities of the Arctic getting warmer might seem like a blessing.

Other parts of the world are also noticing drastic changes in local weather. In response, science is finding ways to combat changes that are, in some places, beginning to cause suffering. This story about a community in the Himalayas demonstrates how ingenuity can help a community reclaim our most important natural resource – water.

We just need more shade on the Beaufort Sea.
